few arbitrary thoughts and tidbits as we put the wraps on
the 2015 turf racing season and, of course, the calendar
year… I’ve seen a bunch of good looking, nicely-bred sopho-
mores hitting the North American turf courses thus far this
fall and that bodes well for next season over the lawn (always
great to see the 3-year-olds finally getting an opportunity over
the sod – many of them should have had the chance earlier in
the season)… Skychai Racing’s DA BIG HOSS looks like he may
well have a great future amongst the elite turf stayers in North
America if he stays healthy in 2016 – rascal has got some seri-
ous talent and a running style that’s tailor-made for staying a
distance of ground... Really beginning to totally comprehend and
appreciate just how essential the findings from“The Roster” of
Contributing Turf/Stamina Stallions can be when handicapping
North American stayers. Regardless of age, experience and/
or recent racing form pedigrees are enormous keys to success
the longer they travel over the green stuff… This past year was
particularly odd and mentally demanding for this turf scribe – I
lost my dear Mother early in the year, got my first chance to play
England and Ireland regularly via my phonebet account for the
very first time, suffered a mild heart attack in mid-September
yet all told had a solid year handicapping stayers over the turf
both here, in Australia and in Europe – 2016 beckons and one
can only wonder what’s on tap – positive and negative – for the
new year… Good handicapping rascals!
